Carlos Glenn Tolbert's Obituary
Carlos G. Tolbert, age 75, of Pinckneyville passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 11:25 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital. Carlos was born on April 4, 1932 in Zeigler, IL a son to John A. and Arnistine (Donaldson) Tolbert. On September 27, 1958, he married Bonnie G. Sutliff in Pinckneyville, and she survives. They were married for almost 49 years. Carlos served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sgt. during the Korean Conflict. He had retired as an Illinois State Trooper, worked at Captain Mine and drove a charter tour bus for Action Charter. In his lifetime he was a member of the United Methodist Church in Pinckneyville, graduate of Zeigler High School class of 1950 and SIU with a Law Enforcement degree, Masonic Lodge of Zeigler # 1048 for 50 years, Scottish Rite, and Ainad Temple. Carlos was a member of the VFW and American Legion of DuQuoin, a Life Member of the Illinois Police Association and of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, camping, collecting guns, and coins. Survivors include his wife Bonnie of Pinckneyville, one son: Brian Tolbert and wife Nancy of Monument, CO, one daughter: Carla Tolbert of St. Louis, MO, three brothers: John A. Tolbert of Hinsdale, IL Charles C. Tolbert of Carterville, IL and Denver L. Tolbert of Mulkeytown, IL. and one cousin: Alyce Jean Toth of Zeigler, IL He was preceded in death by his parents: and one brother: Randall L. Tolbert of Murphysboro, IL. Funeral services will be held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Monday July 23, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. James Barnett officiating. Interment will be at the Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
