Bruce McDonnough's Obituary
Bruce O'Neil McDonnough, age 68, of Coulterville, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 8:34 p.m. at his home.
Bruce was born on June 9, 1952 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Neil and Ruby E. (Gerstenschlaeger) McDonnough. On May 24, 1997, he married Gail A. Travis in his mother's yard in Coulterville, IL and she survives. For 15 years, he was the owner and craftsman for Dream Staffs in Coulterville. Bruce was an axillary member of The Island Warrior Society, Wounded sons, and a lifelong member of the Coulterville Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served on their honor guard. He enjoyed the woods, loved reading and was an avid animal lover. He would take in stray animals and give them a home.
Bruce honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Gail McDonnough of Coulterville, IL; two sons, Cedric (Jackie) McDonnough of Steeleville, IL, Travis (Kishalee) Scheppelman of Freeburg, IL; a daughter, Amanda (Rafael) Guetierrez of St. Louis, Mo; a brother, Kerry (Ester) McDonnough of Port Lavaca, TX; sister, Colleen McDonnough of Coulterville, IL, several grandchildren; and one niece, Marcella Lewis of Montana City, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Parsons; and one nephew, Shawn McDonnough.
Bruce's wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned.
Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL has been entrusted with arrangements.
