Betty Louise Whitson's Obituary
Betty Louise Whitson, age 70, of Auburn, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 3:44 a.m. in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL after bravely fighting cancer. Betty was born on October 1, 1946 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Louis Charles and Clara Belle (Nehrkorn) Goldman. On May 15, 1965, she married John E. Whitson at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. She was a member of the Tamaroa First Baptist Church, Tamaroa, IL. Betty was a loving wife, mom and grandma who treasured her time with her family. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, gardening and didn't mind making a mess along the way. She especially loved helping others. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, John Whitson of Auburn, IL; four daughters, Lisa (Dave) Leehy of Augusta, GA, Tami (Dominic) Saebeler of Springfield, IL, Alison (Chuck) Jackson of Waverly, IL and Michele (Adam) Wright of Staunton, IL; a sister, Doris (Ronnie) Tanner of Pinckneyville, IL; two brothers, Carl (Vickie) Goldman of Pinckneyville, IL and Larry (Sherry) Goldman of Pinckneyville, IL; nine grandchildren, Liz and Luke Leehy, Alec and Evan Saebeler, Tyler and Reese Jackson and Sarah, Jamie and Brandon Wright; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Gregory J. Whitson. Funeral services will be held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Goldman, Brother Ray Baggott and Pastor Ed Ingram officiating. Interment will be in Campbell Cemetery, Tamaroa, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Greg Whitson Memorial Fund or Campbell Cemetery Association for maintenance.
