Betty Lynn Knapp's Obituary
Betty Lynn Knapp, age 88, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 7:52 p.m. in Green Tree Assisted Living, Mt. Vernon, IL. Betty was born on January 27, 1927 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Theodore and Bessie (Dodillet) Hubler. On July 24, 1947, she married Roy Allen Knapp in Pinckneyville, IL, who preceded her in death on March 11, 2011. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma and Eastern Star. She was a teacher at Pinckneyville Elementary School, Pinckneyville, IL for 34 years and was dedicated to the education of her students. Betty enjoyed reading, was a loyal Pinckneyville Panther fan and was passionate about her grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Ted (Susan) Knapp of Mt. Vernon, IL; two grandchildren, Jared (April) Knapp of Mt. Vernon, IL and Megan Knapp of Indianapolis, IN (fiancé, Ted Pastoors of Blaine, MN);a sister, Linda (Larry) Bauersachs of Lebanon, TN and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters, Dorothy Montonye and Evelyn Magill. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Charles Boling and Dr. Jay Lowder officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL or Illinois YMCA Youth and Government. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
