Bessie Loretta Barton's Obituary
Bessie Loretta Barton, age 82, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Friday afternoon, April 6, 2007 in Pinckneyville Health Care Center. Bessie was born on January 11, 1925 in Annapolis, MO, a daughter to Andrew Jackson and Savannah Maybelle (Olive) Mayes. She married David Sidney Barton on November 30, 1945 and he preceded her in death in April 1968. In her lifetime, she worked as a nurses' aid at Randolph County Care Center and as a radio dispatcher for the Pinckneyville Police Department. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville and she loved to go fishing and dancing. Survivors include six children: David and wife Barbara Barton of Collinsville, IL, Gary and wife Patsy Barton of Murphysboro, IL, Terry and wife Debbie Barton of Pinckneyville, IL, Darlene Taylor of Bowling Green, KY, Larry and wife Debbie Barton of Murphysboro, IL and Carol and husband Tom Carter of Ava, IL, nineteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and six sisters: Gladys, Clark, Bertha, Mary, Harlan, Minnie, Andrew, Eugene, Julia, and Ruby, and one son-in-law: John Taylor. Graveside services will be held in Mueller Hill Cemetery on Monday, April 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Monday from 9:00 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
