Bertha Lou Carter's Obituary
Bertha Lou Carter, age 68, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in her home. Bertha was born on August 30, 1940 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to John and Reathel (Morrisey) Tilley. On January 7, 1991, she married Marion Carter in Benton, IL and he survives. Bertha was a member of Gospel Assembly Church, DuQuoin, IL and worked for many years for Decca Records and MCA until her retirement. She enjoyed painting, cooking, and going for rides in the car, but she especially loved being a wife and mother and caring for her family. She is survived by her husband, five daughters: Candess (Jerry) Higgerson of Pinckneyville, IL, Kimberly (Steve) Ruff of DuQuoin, IL, Sandra Osborne of DuQuoin, IL, Julie Osborne of Willisville, IL and Amy Anheuser of Tamaroa, IL, eleven grandchildren: Nathan Ruff, Michael and Jesse Higgerson, Justin and Dustin Jaroski, Lindsey and Tyler Cooper, Tommy, Jaimie and Dalton Anheuser and Casey Tritschler, seven great-grandchildren, three brothers: Clyde (Claudette) Tilley of Bourbonnais, IL, Norman (Janice) Tilley and George (Lori) Tilley of DuQuoin, IL, four sisters: Louise (Forrest) Dunmyer, Clara Nell (David) Worthington and Joyce Haggard all of DuQuoin, IL and Jackie Carter of Mulkeytown, IL and many dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son: Jack Osborne, one daughter: Roberta Ann Bryant, one grandson: William Cullen Bryant, one brother: James Tilley, one sister: Illene Dunmyer and one son-in-law: William Dwayne Bryant. Funeral services will be held at Gospel Assembly Church, DuQuoin, IL on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. with Brother Mark Norris officiating. Friends may call at Gospel Assembly Church, DuQuoin, IL on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family or the American Diabetes Association. Pyatt Funeral Home DuQuoin, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
