August "Gus" Krisher's Obituary
August "Gus" Krisher, age 89, of Pinckneyville, IL passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 1:50 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital Emergency Room, Pinckneyville, IL. Gus was born on August 20, 1926 in McCurtain, OK, a son to Mathias and Justina (Matzelle) Krisher. On December 13, 1947, he married Constance Sweeney in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, McCurtain, OK and she survives. Gus was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Paris, IL and attended St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Gus was a self-employed contractor for over sixty years, working in oil field maintenance as a production engineer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Paris, IL and the Illinois Gas and Oil Association. Gus enjoyed fishing, hunting quail, riding his BMW motorcycle, collecting Indian artifacts, was a champion marble shooter and earned the nickname "Cat Eye". He was a person of faith continuing to pray the rosary until his death and served as a great example of virtue to all of his children. Survivors include his wife, Constance Krisher of Pinckneyville, IL; two sons, Joe (Donna) Krisher of Mascoutah, IL and Alex (Susan) Krisher of Bowling Green, KY; two daughters Maggie (Carrol) Adcock of Pinckneyville, IL and Lisa (John) Tallman of Stillman Valley, IL; thirteen grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Matt, Angie, Chris, Mary, Sarah, Dan, Jo, Alexandra, Will, John and Joseph; and twenty-four great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Krisher and Joseph Krisher and one sister, Ruth Marler. Funeral services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Father George Mauck officiating. Friends may call at St. Bruno Catholic Church on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday at the church from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bruno Catholic School, Pinckneyville, IL. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
