Audrey Roberta Stone's Obituary
Audrey Roberta Stone, age 91, of Highland, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in her home.
Audrey was born on November 26, 1931 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Frederick "Fritz" and Cora Jane (Cottom) Birkner. On August 15, 1951, she married James "Jim" Stone at the Second Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on September 26, 2020 after 69 years of marriage. Audrey had worked various secretarial jobs and as an administrative assistant at the First National Bank, Collinsville, IL. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her home and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Steven (Jerri) Stone of Trenton, IL; four grandchildren, Andrew (Rachael) Stone of Edwardsville, IL, Brian Stone of Oak Creek, WI, Matthew (Jena) Stone of Louisville, KY, and Eric Stone of Wood River, IL; six great-grandchildren, Lily Stone, Chloe Stone, Emilia Stone, Oliver Stone, Harper Stone and Barrett Stone; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Harold Birkner, Nelson Birkner, Delbert Birkner, and Milton Birkner; and three sisters, Edna Dietrich, Erma Kelley, and Geraldine Woodside.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 12:00 p.m., with Reverend Dr. Billy Blackmon officiating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
