Armand James "Sonny" Whitmore's Obituary
Armand James "Sonny" Whitmore, age 76 of Pinckneyville, IL, formerly of Cahokia, IL passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 2:45 a.m. at his home. Sonny was born on August 8, 1933 in St. Louis, Mo, a son to John and Marie (Ruder) Whitmore. On December 29, 1952, he married Joan Lehbold in St. Louis, Mo and she survives. Sonny was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Korean War. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1699, Cahokia, IL and American Legion Post 647, DuQuoin, IL. Sonny worked as a mechanic for Anderson Brothers, St. Louis, MO for 32 years. He loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family. Sonny is survived by his wife, four children; Pam (Vincent) Montague of Portsmith, VA, Joe (Deb) Whitmore of St. Charles, MO, Sandra Whitmore of California, John (Patricia) Whitmore of Valmeyer, IL, four brothers; Jack (Sharon) Whitmore of St. Genevieve, MO, Richard (Ruth) Whitmore of California, Robert Whitmore of Belleville, IL and Edward (Louise) Whitmore of Fenton, MO, fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; Cindy Whitmore and a sister; Jacqueline Nagel. Sonny's wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
