Anita Marie Howell's Obituary
Anita Marie Howell, age 90, of Sparta, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 4:35 p.m., in Coulterville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Coulterville, IL.
Anita was born on September 11, 1933 in Cobden, IL, the daughter to Roy C. and Freda M.. (Lindsey) Basler. On May 20, 1955, she married Clifton Ray Howell at U.S. Naval Base in Coronado, CA. He preceded her in death after 68 years of marriage on August 15, 2023. Anita had been a secretary, tax preparer for H&R Block, and a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta, IL. She was a member of the Coulterville V.F.W. Post #6865 Lady's Auxiliary. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include two sons, David A. (Cyndi) Howell of Coulterville, IL and Michael R. (Nancy) Howell of Sparta, IL; one daughter, Kimberly A. Howell of Sparta, IL; five grandchildren, Angela (Jason) Wright of Coulterville, IL, Heather (Randy) Steele of Coulterville, IL, Adam (Amy) Howell of Coulterville, IL, Emily (Josh) Johnson of Aviston, IL, and Molly (Tyler) Thompson of Freeberg, IL; nine great-grandchildren, Analiese Howell, Ace Howell, Kynlee Wright, Jaycee Wright, Jaxson Steele, Raylend Steele, Samuel Johnson, Lucas Johnson, and Zoey Thompson; special friends Mary Lou Schmulbach and Travis Aaron; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifton Ray Howell; two brothers, Donald Basler and Roy C. "Sonny" Basler, Jr.
A private graveside service will be conducted at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
