Alvin "Bud" Knope's Obituary
Alvin "Bud" Knope, age 80, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at 8:50 p.m., in his home surrounded by his family.
Bud was born on November 22, 1942 in Sparta, IL, a son to Emmett and Frances (Reed) Knope. On September 1, 1962, he married Delores Powers at Marissa Presbyterian Church, Marissa, IL and she survives. He had retired in 2002 as a coal miner at Zeigler #11 and was a member of the UMWA. Bud was also a member of the Grand Cote Cruisers and loved restoring cars, especially Chevys, going to car shows and attending swap meets. He enjoyed motorcycles and drag racing, as well. Bud's true joy though was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Delores Knope of Coulterville, IL; two sons, Kenny Knope of Coulterville, IL and Tracy (Stephanie) Knope of Coulterville, IL; two sisters, Joyce Miles of Coulterville, IL and Darlene Ogilvie of Coulterville, IL; a sister-in-law, Debbie Knope; five grandchildren, Mackenzi Knope (significant other, Mike Stephens), Conner (Kelli) Knope, Abbey (Jordan) Wright, Blaine Knope, and Drew Knope (significant other, Sydney Gordon); five great-grandchildren, Spencer, Emily, Emmett, Aubrey, and baby Cara, due in a few weeks; a special cousin, Neal Hirte; best friend, Roger Geralds; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Floyd Dean Knope.
Funeral services will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., with Reverend Jim Stark officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
