Altheda June Caraker's Obituary
Altheda June Caraker, age 84, of DuQuoin, IL passed away in the Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 7:15 a.m. "Tead" was born in DuQuoin on July 3, 1922, a daughter of Arther and Dora (Nevill) Scarber. She married Joe F. Caraker on August 15, 1946 in Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on August 7, 2000. She was a member of the Old DuQuoin Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for 30 years, a member of the St. John's Birthday Club, liked to sew, enjoyed word puzzles, and loved being with her family. Survivors include a son: Robert Berry, and his wife, Mary, of Lincoln, IL, two daughters: Charlotte Acuff, and her husband, Roy, of Long Lake, IL and Rita Morgan of DuQuoin, a sister: Mabel Isaacs of DuQuoin, twelve grandchildren: Tina Woolsey, Cindy and Rod Chapman, Kathy and Don Carson, Bobby Berry, Jeff Berry, Cheryl Berry, Ann Marie Berry, James Berger, Michael and B. J. Berger, Mark and Derisha Acuff, Robert Wright, Joe and Jade Wright, twenty-one great-grandchildren, along with numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter: Millie Woolsey, a grandson: Ryan Berry, and eight brothers and sisters: Herman Scarber, Howard Scarber, Helen Caraker, Jimmie Scarber, Charles Bernard Scarber, Oscar "Buddy" Scarber, Jack Scarber, Wanda Miller, and a son-in-law: Larry Morgan. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Old DuQuoin Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Clark officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home, DuQuoin, on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and at the Old DuQuoin Baptist Church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Old DuQuoin Baptist Church.
