Alice Gladson Messamore's Obituary
Alice Gladson Messamore, age 95, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2008 at 9:20 p.m. at Pinckneyville Health Care Center. Alice was born on October 21, 1912 in Pinckneyville, a daughter to Logan and Gertrude (Keene) Gladson. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, a teacher at Pinckneyville High School for 22 years, a member of the Retired Teacher's Association and a member of AAUW where she was past President of the Alumna Chapter Women's Club. Survivors include two nephews: James Logan Gladson and Randy Sims, two nieces: Chesley Belcher and Joan Gladson Hale, three great-nieces: Barbie Jarrett Vaughn and her husband Dan of Hernando, MS, Diana Jarrett Vaughn of Hernando, MS and Caroline Jarrett, two great-great nephews: Alec and Austin Vaughn, three great-great nieces: Chynna Vaughn, Stacy and Christen Puckett and several other great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Carl and Dr. James Gladson, one sister: Catherine Sims and her former husband, Paul Messamore. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville with Rev. Rick Hatley officiating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville. Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville is in charge of arrangements.
