Agnes Grafton's Obituary
Agnes Grafton, age 99, of Sparta, IL, formerly of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at 1:21 a.m. in Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, IL.
Agnes was born on November 9, 1920 in Birmingham, AL, a daughter to Nathan and Bertha Campbell. On August 11, 1939, she married LeRoy Earnest Grafton in Perryville, MO and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2002 after 62 years of marriage. She was a 70-year member of Coulterville United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL. She was very active in the church. She was on several bowling leagues up into her 80's. She owned and operated Agnes' Beauty Shop for more than 35 years. Agnes was a seamstress, she made her own clothes and liked to knit and crochet. She loved southern cooking especially making pies.
The family would like to thank the Randolph County Care Center for the care and compassion shown to Agnes during the time she spent there.
Survivors include her son, Jim (Sharon) Grafton of Coulterville, IL; three grandchildren, Jamie (Joe) Jones, Dan (Christine) Grafton and Tim and (Cheryl) Grafton; eight great-grandchildren, Allison, Erik, Alexa, Ryan, Nick, Eli, Grace and Carter; two great great-grandchildren, Jonas and Lyra; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Willard Campbell, Roy Campbell, and James Campbell as a child; three sisters, Evelyn Hamilton, Maude Stapf and Ethel Frassato.
Funeral services will be held at Coulterville United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kimberly Allen officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Coulterville United Methodist Church.
