Dear Family,

I am so sorry for Lucas and your family. I worked with him at Political Science and he and I became good friends right off the bat. Though I was 45 years older than Lucas, old enough to be his grandmother, he treated me as his friend. I will never forget him.

One day I said to him, 'Will you be happy living in southern Illinois your entire life?' His answer was this: "My family, my friends and my church are here; there would be no better place for me to be."

I am deeply saddened by this great loss to the Evans family and the DuQuoin Church family. Please know that me and my church, Zeigler 1st Apostolic, have held you up in prayer from the beginning and still now.

God bless you with His great comfort and peace!

Sis. Leta Carr

Lucas touched the lives of many young people and inspired just as many if not more. I knew him through TKD and I thank God for for the time Lucas was here and all the good he accomplished. Lord, I pray for your grace and comfort for his family and close friends. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
