Thomas William Ruffino, age 64, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 1:36 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Thomas was born on July 10, 1946 in DuQuoin, IL, a son to William J. and Anna Marie (Stern) Ruffino. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Seabees during the Vietnam War. 44 years ago, on September 13, 1966, he married Judy Elaine Hardin in Perryville, MO and she survives. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 160, Murphysboro, IL for over 40 years and the DuQuoin V.F.W. Thomas was a plumber and owner/operator of Ruffino Plumbing for over 28 years and from the year 2000 to 2007 he worked out of the union hall. He enjoyed planting and working in his garden, mowing and making his yard look nice, old cars and car shows, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles but he dearly loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Ruffino of Pinckneyville, IL; two sons, Shawn (Paige) Ruffino of Sesser, IL and Travis (Katie) Ruffino of McHenry, IL; a daughter, Jaime Ruffino (special friend, Jesse Farlow) of Pinckneyville, IL; a sister, Doris Smith of Pinckneyville, IL; and seven grandchildren, Alexis Ruffino, Haley Ruffino, Dayle Ruffino, Mackenzie Farlow, Jonah Ruffino, Bradon Ruffino and Grace Ruffino.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Friends may call at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Assocation.
